500 Christians Join Saffron Party in Delhi

NEW DELHI: For the first time, the Delhi BJP has held a special drive membership drive for Christian community on Sunday. The drive was carried out by the party minority morcha at four churches across the city and over 500 members from the Christian community had joined the party.

President of the Delhi BJP minority wing Atif Rasheed said that the special membership drive had been held at four churches at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church, Gol Dak Khana, Mandir Marg, Turkaman Gate and Kingsway Camp for two hours from 10 am to 12 noon.  “At the special drive at four places, over 500 people took membership of the party and a similar drive will be carried out for next few Sundays in similar fashion,” said Rasheed.

Reportedly the minority cell of the BJP, which always focuses on the Muslim community has decided to reach out to other minority communities in the city. Christians with around five lakh voting population spread across the 70 assembly constituencies are in the center of the BJP strategy for the upcoming Delhi elections. The BJP is also trying to enroll over 10,000 members from the community in next one month.
