GURDASPUR: A minor girl was allegedly raped and then strangulated to death in her house, police said today.
DSP Parminder Singh said that an ASI (retd) Jasbir Singh had lodged a complaint with police that he and his wife Narinder Kaur, Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) had adopted a girl child, now 14-year-old, who was allegedly found murdered in her room when all the members were absent yesterday.
He alleged that she was studying in class 9 and after the school she had gone to tuition and yesterday evening she was found murdered, and all doors of the house were also found open.
The DSP said that her medical and postmortem confirmed that she was earlier raped and them strangulated to death by the accused.
A case has been registered against unidentified persons.
