Around 49,000 voters Used NOTA in Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR:  This is the first election in Jammu & Kashmir, where boycott calls are quite a norm, that the Election Commission (EC) boldly extended to voters the provision of rejecting all candidates in the fray with a ‘None of the above’ (NOTA) button on the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). In J&K, the EC stated, 49,000 electorates used NOTA option in the state’s Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on Tuesday. This democratic option has been provided to the rest of the country’s voters. Of the total of 73,16,393 voters, including service electors in the state, only one per cent or 49,129 people used NOTA, according to the EC analysis.
