Asom Yuba Parishad Calls 10-Hour State Bandh on Friday

AYP in a release blamed the Congress government in the state and the BJP government at the Centre for failing to provide security to common people.

GUWAHATI: Asom Yuba Parishad (AYP), the youth wing of opposition AGP, today called a 10-hour Assam bandh on December 26 against the serial attacks on Adivasis by NDFB(S) terrorists.

AYP in a release blamed the Congress government in the state and the BJP government at the Centre for failing to provide security to common people.

To protest against terrorism and demand security for people, AYP will observe a 10-hour Assam bandh on December 26, it said.

The essential services are, however, exempted from the purview of this agitation, AYP said.

At least 65 people were killed and 15 injured in serial attacks by suspected NDFB(S) terrorists last night at six places in Sonitpur, Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of Assam.

Besides, three persons were killed this morning when police opened fire on violent protesters in Sonitpur.

Around 2,500 people have fled their homes and are staying in relief camps after the attacks.
