NEW DELHI: The acid attack on 30-year-old doctor Amrit Kaur in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on Tuesday was plotted by her colleague at ESI Hospital through a friend, according to police.

The accused, Dr.Ashok Yadav, had given a `25,000 contract to two juveniles for carrying out this. Besides arresting Ashok Yadav and his his friend, Vaibhav, police have apprehended the two juveniles on Thursday.

Ashok, a senior resident doctor with MBBS from Russia, had proposed to Amrit Kaur for marriage, but it was turned down. “Ashok had approached Vaibhav, who helped execute the attack on Tuesday. Through Vaibhav, Ashok had given a contract to the two juveniles,” said a police official.

“We questioned her friends and colleagues to determine whether she had any personal enmity or if anyone held a grudge against her,” police said. It was found that the accused had chased Amrit from her house and harmed her in the market area of Rajouri Garden. So, the robbery angle was ruled out and the police teams focused on personal enmity.

On the basis of the call records of Amrit’s mobile phone, Ashok was zeroed in and was questioned. He finally admitted to the crime.
