SRINAGAR: The PDP, which won all three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir, has released its first list of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections in J&K.

The list, containing 28 names, was finalized by the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), which met on Saturday here under the chairmanship of party patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

The J&K Assembly has a strength of 87 seats. The PDP has retained sitting legislators in Lolab, Sangrama, Chadoora, Tral, Pampore, Shangus, Pahalgam and Darhal Assembly constituencies and given mandate to 12 new faces including two former bureaucrats.

The PDP has also given mandate to Congress defector Abdul Majid Paddar from Noorabad constituency. He had contested the 2008 Assembly polls on a Congress ticket against PDP and National Conference candidates.
