MTNL SDO Shot Dead, 7 Others Injured in Firing in UP

BAHRAICH: A Sub-Divisional Officer of MTNL was shot dead while seven others, including a woman, were injured when some persons opened fire during an altercation over a land in Visheshwarganj area, police said today.

55-year-old Aaddha Prasad Mishra, SDO of MTNL Delhi, was shot dead yesterday at Jamunaha Khurd village, when he tried to intervene in a land dispute involving his relative Ganga Prasad Mishra, police said.

Ganga Prasad was getting some construction work done on his land when he was attacked by his neighbour Prakash Chandra and his accomplices, they said.

When Aaddha attempted to intervene, he was shot at with a country-made fire arm, police said, adding that he succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital.

Seven persons, including a woman, were injured in the firing and have been admitted to the hospital.

In-charge SP Sunil Kumar Singh said that a case has been lodged against 19 people in this connection.
