Charges Filed Against LeT Operatives

The investigators on Thursday chargesheeted two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives for allegedly conspiring to kidnap a businessman for ransom to generate funds for buying weapons and explosives to carry out jihad here.

The investigators on Thursday chargesheeted two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives for allegedly conspiring to kidnap a businessman for ransom to generate funds for buying weapons and explosives to carry out jihad here.

The chargesheet, filed before Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash, states Mohd Rashid and Mohd Shahid were members of the banned terrorist organisation LeT and in conspiracy with Abdul Subhan and Javed Baluchi (LeT terrorist based in Pakistan) to plot a  terrorist action in Delhi.

The two have been charged for offences of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Unlwaful Activities (Prevention) Act. Rashid and Shahid were arrested in Haryana last year. With their arrest, the police had claimed to have unearthed a terror module of the LeT which was at an “advanced stage” of planning a major strike here to avenge the atrocities committed against Muslims.
