Amber Beacon for Punjab, Haryana VIPs

Following the Supreme Court order barring the use of red beacon light with flashers in vehicles, except those used by occupants of Constitutional posts, the Punjab and Haryana governments have allowed amber beacon light atop official vehicles in a bid to placate the VIPs in their respective territories.

Following the Supreme Court order barring the use of red beacon light with flashers in vehicles, except those used by occupants of Constitutional posts, the Punjab and Haryana governments have allowed amber beacon light atop official vehicles in a bid to placate the VIPs in their respective territories.

And Punjab Transport Department had issued a notification in this regard on April 17 after obtaining the Chief Minister’s approval.

Accordingly, amber beacon light will be allowed in the case of a select group of officials and politicians, including the Chief Parliamentary Secretaries; Principal Secretaries; Divisional Commissioners; Deputy Commissioners; District and Sessions Judges and police officers in the rank of DGP, Additional DGP, Zonal Inspector Generals, Range DIGs, Police Commissioners  and Senior Superintendents of Police.
