Congress Rebels in LS Polls may Get the Boot

The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee will take strict action against leaders who work  against the party in the April 17 LSelections. The committee has sought a report from its district units in this regard. The KPCC had received complaints that some party workers in several Lok Sabha constituencies worked against the official candidates.

The complaints came mainly from Shimoga, Chitradurga, Mandya, Davangere, Bijapur, Bellary, Tumkur, Uttara Kannada, Belgaum, Kolar, Chikballapur, Bangalore North and Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituencies. While some had publicly campaigned against party nominees, a few tried to weaken the prospects of the candidates by staying away from campaigning, a source said.

When contacted, KPCC chief G Parameshwara said that the state unit had sought a report from the district bodies on anti-party activities. “Some districts and taluk units sent their reports, but we are still waiting for inputs from others,” he said.

Stating that the KPCC would place the reports before the party’s disciplinary committee for scrutiny, he said those who indulge in such activities will face strict action.
