Congress Assures Support to JD(U) in Bihar

NEW DELHI: After JD(U) party chief, Sharad Yadav met Congress leadership in the national capital, the Congress is being understood to have assured support to the JD(U) in the formation of the government, following the resignation of  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar .  

Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed said the party has been supporting the Bihar Government from outside and there was no reason to withdraw support. JD(U) has 115 members in the 243-member Bihar assembly while Congress has four.   Nitish resigned on Saturday taking moral responsibility of party’s drubbing in the Lok Sabha elections where it managed to get to only two seats, far less than the number of seats (20) which it had got in the elections held in 2009. The tenure of the Nitish Govt was till November 2015.

Meanwhile, Sharad Yadav’s car was gheraoed by JD(U) supporters, who alleged that he was behind  Nitish’s resignation.
