Adhir Fears Attack After Guards Replaced

KOLKATA: Congress's West Bengal unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Sunday alleged a "sinister design" by the ruling Trinamool Congress on his life after the state government replaced his personal security guards.

Chowdhury also pointed the finger at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after he was informed that his personal security guards have been changed.

"Why this sudden change of my personal security personnel right after the elections have ended? I can see a sinister design behind this sudden change in my security guards which has been made without prior consultation," he said.

The Baharampur parliamentarian, who stands accused in several cases including of murder, said the decision to change his security personnel was the result of the vengeful attitude of Banerjee, also the Trinamool chief.

"They (Trinamool) have tried to implicate me in false cases and now my security guards have been changed. I think this decision is a result of the Trinamool chief's (Banerjee) vengeful attitude and I am apprehensive of my security. There can be a physical attack on me anytime," he said.
