NEW DELHI: Moving swiftly to fulfill assurances made to thousands of cheering diaspora in his Madison Square Garden address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said the government is working on a new scheme merging the People of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) schemes.
Announcing this in a tweet, the prime minister said that the union home ministry is "working on the new scheme that will merge PIO & OCI schemes".
