Gogoi’s Modi Act Meets an Anti-climactic End

GUWAHATI: If a Congressman does a Narendra Modi, an allergic reaction is obvious.

An allergic cough has apparently been troubling Assam CM Tarun Gogoi,  ever since his sweeping garbage in some Durga Puja mandaps here and attending a couple of outdoor functions, including  one in his constituency Titabor in the last three days. The CM underwent medical tests including an echocardiography and chest X-ray at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital on Wednesday and was allowed to go home after being kept under observation for a while.

The CM seemed to be in good spirits as he waved at the onlookers from the official vehicle as it left the hospital. “He inhaled dust and was suffering from an allergic cough. We cleared the chest congestion with a nebuliser and his heart is now functioning well,” cardiologist A K Bhattacharjee, who has been monitoring Gogoi’s health for long, told journalists. He also said that the Chief Minister had been advised rest for two days. Ostensibly, Gogoi was inspired by the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat mission. He launched the ‘Clean Assam’ campaign three days after Modi had launched his ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission. Congress MLAs had participated in the Clean Assam campaign across the state on that day. “We support any good cause. With participation from the people, our government will make an all-out endeavour to make Assam clean and green,” he had said.
