Vote for Change: Modi to Haryana Electorate

CHANDIGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday once again hit out at Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress Government in Haryana and said that he wanted to make the state scam-free.

Addressing a rally in Mahendragarh, Modi said he wanted to see the state’s transformation from “Scam Haryana to Skill Haryana”, as he targeted the Congress and the INLD.

Modi said, “I know you are sad that Haryana is known as a state of scams. There are scams and then scams within scams. Our opponents are all involved in scams. Do you want a scam-hit Haryana? I want a skilled Haryana. You must decide between the two.”

The Prime Minister then said there was a ‘Team India’ at the Centre and voting for the BJP in the Assembly polls would ensure better Centre-state coordination which will speed up the state’s development. “I want a Team India where the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister work together. Do you want to elect a government that feels like throwing up when they hear about the Central (the BJP) government? I want to bring the Centre and states not only closer but also together,” Modi said.

“So far, one plus one was two as the state stood next to the Centre. I want to change this arithmetic so that one plus one becomes 11. I want to create that strength. This will help India become 11 times more powerful and it will take no time to change the fortunes of the country,” he said.

Modi also chided the Congress for its silence after he had announced the government’s intention to celebrate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. “We must go beyond partisan politics in running the country. When I announced Nehruji’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations, many in the Congress were shocked,” he said.

Taking a dig at the Opposition, Modi said, “Those who are born in the Prime Minister’s house, ministers’ or Chief Minister’s house are answerable to bigwigs, but I am answerable to you as I am one from among you.”

“They have done nothing except fill their family coffers,”  Modi alleged.

According to the PM,  it was for the people of  the state “ To decide whether you want a Haryana free from corruption. Do you want to see Haryana freed from bahubalis (musclemen) and the corrupt? Then you will have to choose a new path. The only way left now is to elect a BJP Government with full majority”.

Modi said Haryana has so far been run as a “fiefdom,” and he also made a reference to former Chief Minister and INLD chief O P Chautala, as well as Chief Minister Hooda.
