Mamata Government Shamed India: BJP

KOLKATA: The BJP on Thursday fired a fresh salvo against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee accusing her of embarrassing India before Bangladesh, turning the state into a safe haven for Islamic terrorists and her party into “Trinamool Mujahideen Congress”.

The party’s incharge for West Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh posed 10 questions related to Islamic terror in West Bengal for Banerjee and alleged that, “Despite repeated warnings by the Centre about the presence of terrorists from Bangladesh, arms training at several madrasas to recruit jihadis, and Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh operatives infiltrating into the state, she did not initiate any action.

“Isn’t it true about JuMB terrorists that they are being provided safe passage in West Bengal and that the WB government was informed about this on September 24 about three Bangladesh terrorists--Habibur Rahman, Mohammad Bilal and Sohail Mehfuz before the blast at Bardhaman?” he asked.

Singh recollected that during former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s trip to Bangladesh to sign the Teesta Water treaty, Banerjee had at the last moment, cancelled her tour along with him.

“Did she cancel it due to pressure from certain quarters? Her government has embarrassed India before our neighbouring country Bangladesh because of her inaction against Islamic terrorists using West Bengal’s soil to destabilize the Awami League government in Bangladesh,” Singh said.

He pointed out that two of the Bangladeshi terrorists who died during the blast at a house at Khagragrh in Bardhaman district on October 2 and another one who survived had obtained Indian passports without police verifications.

He said that a few days ago around 60 persons possessing Indian PAN cards, voters ID cards and certificates issued my magistrates of border districts were apprehended by the BSG while attempting to infiltrate from Bangladesh.
