Akali Leader Gurcharan Galib Passes Away, Punjab CM Condoles

LUDHIANA: Former Ludhiana MP and Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Galib passed away here today after a brief illness.

Galib (82), a former Congress MP who switched over to the Akali Dal five years back, passed away this morning, his family said.   

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal condoled the demise of Galib, who is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.           

The Chief Minister while paying tribute to the departed soul at his residence here said in Galib's death the state has lost "a balanced and an experienced leader, who was a true champion of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat".       

Badal also expressed sympathy for the bereaved family.
