Girl Dies While Trying To Stop Fight Between Brothers

BATALA: A girl died after she was hit by a brick while trying to stop a fight between her brother and cousin at Shakal village in the district, police said today.

Neenu (22), daughter of Jaswant Singh, was killed when she was hit by a brick allegedly thrown by her brother Surjit Singh towards their cousin Kuldip Singh following a minor scuffle last night, police said.

There was a quarrel between Surjit and Kuldip as Kuldip had allegedly abused Surjit's father Jaswant Singh a few days ago, they said.

During the quarrel Surjit allegedly threw a brick, which hit Neenu who was trying to intervene to resolve the matter.

She died on her way to hospital in Amritsar.

A case of murder has been registered against Surjit Singh, who is absconding, police said.
