BJP May Be Invited to Form Government in Delhi

NEW DELHI: President Pranab Mukherjee has asked Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to "explore the possibility of forming a popular government," according to sources. Jung had earlier advised that the single largest party should be allowed to form government in Delhi.

The president's nod to Jung's recommendation will give a chance to the Bharatiya Janata Party, which has 29 MLAs, to form government after proving its majority in a floor test.

BJP had won 31 seats in the assembly polls in December, but three of its MLAs became MPs after contesting and winning Lok Sbaha polls.
