Last-minute Decisions of Congress Under Lens: Khattar

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said that the new government would review all the announcements and decisions pertaining to appointments or recruitments made after May 16, 2014, by the previous Congress Government.

After proper review, those decisions found to be in public interest would be continued and if any discrepancies are found, decision will be taken according to the law, Khattar said after chairing the Cabinet meeting here.

The Cabinet decided to stop all the ongoing recruitments with immediate effect, the CM said. All the re-employment made during the regime of previous government would be re-examined. “I have asked the officials to prepare a list of such re-employment so as to take follow-up action at the next Cabinet meeting,” he added.

The Cabinet also decided to review the complaints on paddy procurement, Khattar said, adding that action in this regard would be taken in the next Cabinet meeting.

To a question, the CM said newly-inducted ministers would be given portfolios soon.

Vadra-DLF Deal

On Change of Land Use (CLU) related decisions of the previous government and investigation concerning Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, the CM said that the law would take its own course. He also struck a non-committal stand on initiating a probe into the controversial DLF-Vadra land deal.

He said that his government would not resort to political vendetta. “The priority of the state government is to implement an agenda which is aimed at the welfare of people of the state,” said Khattar.

The CM said that Haryana Vidhan Sabha Session would commence on November 3.  He said that Cabinet had authorised the Chief Minister to approve the presenting of any legislative business before the Vidhan Sabha during its session commencing on November 3.

The Cabinet has also authorised the CM to approve the Governor’s Address to be delivered on November 4.

He said ‘Swacch Haryana Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ would be launched during Haryana Day celebrations from November 1 to 7.

He said that the Cabinet has also decided to observe October 31 as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’, (national unity day) in the memory of national leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel whose birth anniversary falls on this day.
