70-year-old Woman Found Murdered at Home in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A 70-year-old woman was today found murdered at her son's house in suburban Chembur, police said.

The victim, Chandrabhaga Kharat, was alone at home as her son and the daughter-in-law had left at 11 am for work. She had come to live with her son here from Nashik a month ago as she needed to get her eyes tested, police said.

Kharat was found lying in a pool of blood with the throat slit, but nothing had been stolen from the house. Dilip Raut, senior police inspector of RCF police station, said a case has been registered against an unidentified person.

Police suspect that the murderer was someone known to Kharat. Further probe is on.
