Vyapam Scam Case: CBI FIR against 46 People

NEW DELHI: The CBI has registered a new case against 46 accused, including Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav’s former Officer on Special Duty (OSD), on Thursday in Vypam scam. 

“We have registered FIR under relevant Sections of the IPC, IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act against 64 people,” said a senior CBI officer.

The case has been registered against 64 people, including Pankaj Trivedi, then Controller of Examinations of Vyapam, Om Prakash Shukla, then OSD to the Minister for Technical Education Pardesh Laxmikant Sharma, Dhanraj Yadav, the then OSD to Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, Nitin Mohindra, the then system analyst of Vyapam and Ajay Kumar Sen, the senior system analyst of Vyapam. “The case relates to alleged illegalities committed in the Police Constable Recruitment Examination conducted by Vyapam in 2013,” the officer said.

With Thursday’s FIR, the agency has registered 18 FIRs and 10 preliminary enquires in connection with its ongoing probe into Vyapam scam so far.

The SC upreme Court had on July 9 handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency for investigation. Thr Special Task Force of Madhya Pradesh, which  was earlier probing the Vyapam scam, had registered more than 185 cases and arrested around 2,000 people.

The Congress has claimed that more than 45 people associated with the scam have died mysteriously or in accidents and suicides, while the state government has put the figure at 25. The scam came to limelight after journalist Akshay Singh died in mysterious circumstances while interviewing the parents of scam accused Namrata Damor, an MBBS student who was found dead near railway track in Ujjain in 2012.
