Militants Kill Two CRPF Men in J and K

SRI NAGAR: Militants on Monday ambushed a CRPF patrol party and killed two security men in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

“A group of four or five militants attacked a road opening party of the CRPF’s battalion number 90 at Sangam-Hulumula on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district around 3 pm,” CRPF spokesperson Ashish Kumar told Express. “Assistant Sub Inspector O N Singh and constable Tilak Raj  were killed in the attack,” he added. Hizbul Mujahideen spokesperson Baleeg-ud-Din said the pro-Pakistan militant outfit had carried out the attack. Though sources said the militants made away with the service rifle of one of the deceased jawans, the CRPF spokesperson said: “It is not yet clear whether the militants have snatched the weapon from the deceased CRPF men. We are ascertaining the facts. We will be conducting a Court of Inquiry into the incident to see whether there were any lapses on any part. The inquiry will fix the responsibility.”

Ashish further said that it was yet to be ascertained whether the militants were travelling in a vehicle or on foot.
