NEW DELHI: The Centre is monitoring the developments affecting the welfare of minorities, including Hindus, in Pakistan and would take up issues at all appropriate meetings with Islamabad, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said.

Replying to a letter from BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Avinash Rai Khanna, Sushma assured to take up with Pakistan the difficulties faced by Hindus there in getting marriages registered.

“Many Hindus are facing problems in Pakistan as the authorities are not issuing marriage certificates to them,” Khanna letter said.

Sushma in her reply said the Pakistan Government was fully aware of the situation and has claimed to be looking after the welfare of all its citizens, particularly the minorities.
