NEW DELHI:  Union MoS for Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma on Sunday stirred up a controversy when he said there was a suggestion before the government to apply ‘no work, no pay’ policy on MPs, as was done in the case of bureaucrats.

With his remark drawing strong comments from the Opposition, he later retracted his statement saying he was not authorised to make such a suggestion as it fell in the purview of the Speaker and his ministerial colleagues.
