Bomb Scare in Qadian Town Turns out Hoax

GURDASPUR: A "bomb-like" object in a box caused a scare in Qadian town of the district today, but it later turned out to be a hoax, police said.

The students of Kalaswala Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Qadian, noticed the "bomb-like" object in a box in the school ground following which the school management immediately ordered closure the institution and informed the police, they said.

As a precautionary measure, the police also ordered the closure of three nearby educational institutions.

Senior Superintendent of Police Batala, Inderbir Singh reached the spot and cordoned off the area and bomb disposal team from Jalandhar also arrived to check the object, police said.

Some wires were protruding from the box giving the impression that it was some explosive. However, after thorough check, it turned out to be a hoax, police said.

Notably, three days after witnessing a terror attack in nearby Dinanagar town on July 27, panic had gripped Gurdaspur on Thursday when a suspicious black packet with wires was spotted on a road near the city's bus stand, but it too had turned out to be a hoax.
