KRISHNAGAR/BARASAT: A BSF jawan posted in Assam killed himself in the wee hours today after hearing the news of his wife's suicide, following a quarrel between them on phone, the police said.
Amit Barui (24), the BSF jawan, killed himself with his service revolver in Assam after learning from his in-laws that his wife Tuhina (19) committed suicide by taking poison at Hanskhali in Nadia district of West Bengal.
Nadia Police quoting Tuhina's father said she had a quarrel with her husband on phone last night and then she took poison to end her life.
Informed by her family members about this, Amit held himself responsible and committed suicide, North 24 Parganas district police said.
Amit's family live at Deganga in North 24 Parganas district.
While Tuhina's body has been sent for postmortem, Amit's family is waiting for his body.
