Jawaharlal Nehru Holds the Record for Number of I-Day Speeches at the Red Fort

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru holds the record of giving highest number of speeches (17) in the country's auspicious occasion, where as Indira Gandhi ranks second with 16 speeches.

Chandra Shekhar, of Samajwadi Janata Party is the only PM who did not give an Independence Day speech as he had a short lived tenure which started from November 10, 1990 to June 21, 1991.

Gulzarilal Nanda served as acting Prime Minister twice. Each time for a period of 13 days, but was not in office during Independence Day.
