Kumbh Mela: Naga Sadhus Take Out Procession

A grand procession of Naga sadhus belonging to various akhadas was taken out in the holy town of Trimbakeshwar.

NASHIK: A grand procession of Naga sadhus belonging to various akhadas was taken out in the holy town of Trimbakeshwar, about 30 kms from here.

The sadhus, belonging to Shri Panchayati Niranjani Akhada and Taponidhi Shri Anand Akhada Panchayati, wearing marigold garlands, carrying flags, palanquins, spears, idols, horses and chariots on which Mahamandaleshwars were placed, participated in the procession last evening and also presented their skillful lathi manoeuvres.

Mahants Sagarananda Saraswati, Harigir Maharaj, Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad president Narendra Giri Maharaj and others were also present.

The procession, which began from Swami Sagarananda Ashram, Ganpatbari went through Javhar-Phata, Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Lord Trimbakeshwar temple, Kushavarta, Tele Galli, Patil Galli and culminated at Niranjani Akhada.

Trustees of Trimbakeshwar Temple Trust, Trimbakeshwar Municipal Council president Anagha Phadke and several councilors welcomed the royal procession.

Earlier, on August 15, both the akhadas had organised a flag-hoisting ceremony after pooja (worship) of the flag, Mahant Sagarananda Saraswati of Taponidhi Shri Anand Akhada, who was also president of All India Shaddarshan Akhada, said today.
