AMETHI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today intensified his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the black money issue, alleging that he only speaks but lacks the guts to keep his promises, and raised the slogan of 'na kuch mila hai, na kuch milega'.
"During Lok Sabha polls, Modi had promised to bring back black money stashed away abroad and deposit Rs 15 lakh each in every citizen's account. Has that money reached you?" the Congress Vice-President asked.
"Na kuch mila hai, na kuch milega (nothing has been received and nothing would be received)," he said, addressing a roadside meeting in Tahiyawan village on the second day of his two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency.
"Modi only speaks but lacks the guts to keep his words," he said.
The Congress leader said when he talks about former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, Prime Minister Modi maintains silence.
Congress workers welcomed Rahul at Ramnagar, Tikari, Kalyanpur, Piparpur, Ayodhyanagar and Bhadar villages.
Earlier, Rahul met Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee members from Amethi at the Munshiganj guest house and discussed the preparations for the Assembly elections due in 2017 and names of possible candidates.
The members emphasised on not giving party tickets to those who had lost last time to which the Congress Vice-President agreed, sources said.
He emphasised on winning all five Assembly seats in Amethi parliamentary constituency.
Rahul said Congress behaved miserly while presenting its views before the people. He said the party has to highlight failures of the NDA government and its anti-farmers policies before the people.
The Congress leader said little time was left, therefore, the workers should forget internal differences and start preparing for the Assembly elections.
He also met residents at the guest house, heard their grievances and assured them that those would be resolved.
Later, he left for Bhetua village to unveil the statue of Acharya Vinoba Bhave. On the way, he stopped at the residence of a party worker Pawan Dubey, whose mother passed away recently, and expressed his deep sympathies.
After unveiling the statue on the premises of Sant Vinoba Bhave College, Chheera in Amethi district, Rahul said both Bhave and Mahatma Gandhi followed the paths of truth and non-violence to serve the society. And later India developed itself following the paths shown by such great leaders who lived like saints.
At that time, forces like RSS protested against the paths followed by Gandhi and Bhave and the same pattern is now being supported by BJP and the central government, he claimed.
Later talking to reporters, Rahul alleged the BJP-led NDA government was appointing "incompetent" people in important post to execute its hidden agenda. Congress will always protest such tricks as this is not in the interest of the country, he said.
