NOIDA:In a case of alleged medical negligence, the Noida Police have registered an FIR against the management of Fortis hospital here and gynaecologist Monika Wadhwan for allegedly leaving a gauze inside the womb of a woman, who underwent a C-section two years ago.
“We have registered an FIR against the Fortis management and gynaecologist Dr Monika Wadhwan and the doctor’s team under Section 269 and 338 for the IPC. We have started the investigation and the action would be taken accordingly.” said Noida SP Dinesh Yadav.
The victim Namrata, 30, was getting her medical checkup done at Fortis during pregnancy and was operated upon by Wadhawan in December 2013. She was discharged three days later, but after six months, she had severe abdominal pain, but Fortis hospital ignored it.
Then she approached a private hospital and found out about the cotton strip in her womb. The gauze was later removed.
