MUMBAI: As more startling revelations continued to emerge in the Sheena Bora murder case, the Mumbai police on Friday revealed that Indrani Mukherjea’s ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna admitted being involved in her murder.

City Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said on Friday that Khanna had admitted his role in Sheena’s murder. However, he did not elaborate. Indrani has told police that it was Khanna who strangulated her, while the FIR states that both Indrani and Khanna strangulated her.Taking the investigation to the next level a city police team found remains of a human body at the spot at Pen in Raigad district indicated by Indrani’s driver Shyam Rai as the place where he, Indrani and her second husband Sanjeev Khanna buried Sheena’s body after burning it.
The State-run J J Hospital too has handed over some bones, one unbroken tooth and scalp to the police for their DNA analysis at the forensic laboratory. Dean of the hospital T P Lahane said that they had received them from Raigad police in 2012.
The police also claimed that they have collected records from a hospital which show that the slain daughter of Indrani Mukerjea, wife of former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea, had underwent abortion several times. Express had reported on Thursday that Sheena was pregnant when she was allegedly killed on April 24, 2012.
A source said Peter’s son Rahul told the police about Sheena’s pregnancy during his interrogation. Reports mentioned that Sheena became pregnant with someone close to Indrani during their visit to Thailand.
Noted journalist Vir Sanghvi, who headed news channel 9X run by INX Media owned by Peter and Indrani till 2009, threw light on Indrani’s personal life in an interview to a news channel. Sanghvi claimed that Indrani had left home because her mother would not support her when her stepfather, who happens to be her uncle, molested her.
“Indrani told us that her father left her and her mother following which her mother married his brother. Her stepfather molested her and her mother did little to protect her. Indrani told us that because of her stepfather she had to leave her home and move to Kolkata. The Mukerjeas used to bring Sheena to every party and introduce her as Indrani’s stepsister,” Sanghvi said.
Meanwhile, Indrani’s son and Sheena’s brother Mikhail arrived in the city in the morning.
