Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has apprehended 303 Indian fishermen this year, the government said.

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has apprehended 303 Indian fishermen this year, the government said today.

However, Indian security agencies have not apprehended a single Pakistani fisherman this year.

"There have been incidents of firing upon Indian fishing boats by PMSA and in some cases leading to injury and death of Indian fishermen," Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

The Indian government has taken up the matter with Pakistani authorities concerned and requested that the PMSA should exercise maximum restraint in acting against Indian fishermen inadvertently crossing India-Pakistan IMBL and not use disproportionate force against them, Singh said.
