PATNA: Widowhood proved a real curse for Sunita Kuwar, 36, when she was thrown out as a cook at a school in Kalyanpur village of Gopalganj district in 2014 as the students refused to take the mid-day meal prepared by her.
The school had to remove her in the wake of protests by the residents. But when the woman knocked on the door of District Magistrate Rahul Kumar, he reinstated Kunwar on Friday. He also suspended school headmistress Pushpa Rai.
Kumar along with other senior officials also visited the school and ate the food pepared by her. Later Kumar tweeted, “Sometimes u do symbolic things to overcome people’s beliefs.” The District Magistrat’s act helped convince the villagers to withdraw their protest.
