GUWAHATI:  Former Congress Assam minister and an MLA today kicked up a storm by making certain controversial remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing a sharp response from a Union Minister who said it reflected the "polluted and perverted mind of the Congress" and threatened to sue them.

Congress leaders Nilamoni Sen Deka, a former minister, and Roopjyoti Kurmi, both MLAs, purportedly made the remarks against Modi at two separate public meetings today.

Strongly condemning the remarks, Union Sports Minister and Assam unit BJP Chief Sarbananda Sonowal told reporters here, "It reflects the polluted and perverted mind of the Congress".

"We demand immediate expulsion of Deka and Kurmi from Congress and strongest possible exemplary punishment to them for making such statements against a popular Prime Minister," he said. Sonowal said Assam BJP will soon file a defamation case against them.
