Vyapam Scam: Two Imprisoned for Forgery, Cheating in First Verdict

2 persons awarded 3 years RI for cheating, forgery in first verdict in the high-profile 'Vyapam' scam.

INDIA: Two persons were yesterday awarded with three years of rigorous imprisonment for cheating and forgery in first verdict in the high-profile Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or 'Vyapam' scam.

Special Additional Sessions Judge, D K Mittal, also imposed a fine of 500 rupees on each of the convicts identified as Akshat Singh Rajawat and Prakash Baria. The court found the duo guilty under relevant sections of MP Recognised Examination Act.

Court verdict was seen as a concerted effort spearheaded by the Supreme Court to catch culprits in the Vyapam exam and recruitment scam in the state.

The multi- crore scandal in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, or Vyapam, apparently involves politicians, officials and businessmen.
