NEW DELHI: With polls right around the corner a church in South Delhi’s Vasanth Kunj area has been vandalized. This is the fifth such incident since December.

'The St. Alphonsa's church gate was broken open around 1:00 am, sacristy cupboards ransacked, tabernacle was opened and ciborium emptied' members of the church said.

Three people were arrested in connection with a similar incident in Vikaspuri last month.

"A clear pattern of orchestrated attacks is emerging as more and more churches are targetted, vandalised and set on fire," Delhi's Archbishop Anil JT Couto told media.

Senior police officials had reached the spot.

"We are investigating the incident and scanning the footage of CCTV installed near the church to identify the accused," said a senior police official.
