9 Held for Intimidating Cong Rivals

NEW DELHI:Nine criminals associated with the national capital’s most wanted gangster Neeraj Bawana were arrested here for allegedly planning to disrupt the polls and intimidating voters in favour of Congress candidate Reeta Shokeen from Mundka. Reeta’s husband Rambeer was elected the independent legislator from Mundka in the last Assembly polls. The couple had joined the Congress recently.

Police said elusive gangster Neeraj was the nephew of Reeta because of which he was wielding muscle power for her. Ever since Reeta entered the electoral fray on a Congress ticket, Neeraj’s gang members have been extorting money from local businessmen and intimidating rivals. Five firearms and 20 cartridges were recovered. Neeraj, however, was managed to escape.
