Manohar Parrikar Gets Nostalgic During Panaji Poll Campaign

PANAJI: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar became nostalgic today during Panaji bypoll campaigning.

"Twenty years ago when I contested the first time in this constituency, I had addressed my first rally from the same place," Parrikar said addressing a public rally for BJP candidate Siddharth Kuncolienkar.

"Initially, I began my campaign with a few teenagers and youth who accompanied me for the campaigning. Now many of them are young and some are old but they are still with me," Parrikar, who won five consecutive elections from Panaji constituency, said.

"Right from those aged ten years to 35 years, there was a group of youngsters who helped me campaign," he said.

Recalling his political journey, Parrikar said that there are still voters from Panaji who work abroad, but travel to their home town only to vote for him.

The former Goa chief minister said that by getting him elected 20 years ago, Panaji sent the first ever BJP MLA to the state Assembly.
