Children Accompany Parents to See Kejriwal 'Uncle'

NEW DELHI: Children from different areas of the city today flocked to the Ramlila ground with their parents to witness the historic swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet.

Five-year-old Sonia, who lives in Nigeria and is on a vacation at her grandfather's house in Gurgaon, came along with her sister and parents to see "Kejri uncle".

"I like Kejri uncle," the standard one student said while sipping the last drop from a bottle of cold drink.

Her sister Ashi chipped in with a vociferous "Paanch saal Kejriwal."

Sunny, a standard four student at an english medium school in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar, came with his uncle and father to see the new Chief Minister of Delhi.

"I like Kejriwal. He is my hero," said the 10-year-old sitting on his father's shoulders while trying hard to catch a glimpse of the new Chief Minister.

He added, "I also want to vote for him."

Many of those who had converged for the event had to stand outside the venue and watch the swearing-in ceremony on giant screens.

One of them was 3-year-old Manoj. Though he could not speak much, but one thing he knew was "Kejriwal".

Manoj was himself dressed like Kejriwal with a trademark AAP cap. He cheered every time the CM was on the giant screen.

His father, Ravish Kumar, is a dedicated supporter of the party. "My son is a fan of Kejriwal. As he came to know that I will be coming here today, he forced me to bring him."

Seventh standard student, Rakhi who came from Faridabad also shared a similar story.

"My father was not ready to bring me as it is too crowded here, but I insisted because I did not want to miss this," she said.
