Seven Policemen Suspended in Vicky Murder Case

Seven policemen, including an SI, have been suspended for negligence of duty in connection with the murder of gangster Vicky Tyagi.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Seven policemen, including an SI, have been suspended for negligence of duty in connection with the murder of gangster Vicky Tyagi.

SSP K B Singh told reporters here today that seven police officials, including SI Pratap Singh, Head Constable Sant Kumar, constables Vipin Kumar, Nainpal, Ishvar, Vikas and Sachita have been suspended for negligence of duty.

They were escorting Tyagi from jail to court.

An armed juvenile who had entered a courtroom here masquerading as a lawyer, mortally shot Tyagi multiple times on February 16.

The juvenile was arrested from the spot the same day and has been sent to jail. Brijbir Singh, another accused in the case was nabbed on February 17 and remanded to judicial custody till March 2.

A case has been been registered against several other people including SP Anuj Choudhry, SHO Titawi Sachin Malik and constable Vikas in the incident.

Tyagi was facing trial in the 2011 Barakali murder case in which 8 persons of a family were killed. PTI
