NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said upgrading the skills of its large workforce and proper utilisation of resources was his top priority for which four centres of excellence were being set up by next year.

He said human resource development policy was an important part of the Railway restructuring and he was focussing his full attention on improvising resource management in the public sector behemoth.

"HRD policy is a very important part of Railway restructuring. We are focussing our full attention on improvising resource management and upgrading the skills of our employees.

"Four centres of excellence are being set up next year and we will ensure proper utilisation of staff," he said.

The Minister also noted as "worthwhile" the suggestions made by Members with regard to better HR policy and optimal utilisation of resources irrespective of any discrimination on the basis of gender or caste and without pressure from unions.

He also said he would ensure there is no victimisation or discrimination of any employee.
