AI Office in Kolkata Receives Bomb Threat

KOLKATA: Panic gripped the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here on Saturday after the Air India city office at Central Avenue here received a telephone call threatening to blow up one of its flights emanating from Kolkata.

The CISF, along with Bidhannnagar City Police and intelligence agencies, are conducting a meeting.

The AI office received the call around 5.42 pm, and immediately informed the Hare Street police station here. The police immediately swung into action and informed security forces guarding the airport.

An alert has been issued at the airport, and security has been beefed up in areas around the airport.

With Mehdi Masroor Biswas, the ISIS propagandist on Twitter recently arrested from Bengaluru and hailing from Biman Nagar, which is situated close to the airport, the police as well as intelligence agencies did not want to take any chances and immediately beefed up security on the roads leading to the airport.

Recently, at New Town-Rajarhat, posters allegedly by Islamic terrorists have surfaced, stating that they would carry out attacks using teenage girls.

They specifically mentioned that the Sealdah railway station would be attacked using a “fidayeen” bomber.
