Use Digital Locker, Punjab Officials Told

Punjab Government has asked all state officials to enrol under the NDLS to enable them to store their government-issued documents digitally.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Government has asked all state officials to enrol under the National Digital Locker System (NDLS) to enable them to store their government-issued documents digitally.

An official said the sole aim of the NDLS was to place all educational, medical, passport and PAN card details of every Indian in digital form over a cloud storage system.

The Aadhaar-linked system would help citizens to access documents from anywhere in the world.

He said the Punjab Governance Reforms Department has issued necessary directions to all administrative secretaries and deputy commissioners for enrolling officials under the National Digital Locker System.

The data would be protected by a one-time password, which would be sent to the user’s mobile via an SMS every time he/she tries to log into his digital locker. All citizens could start using the digital locker by logging on to http://digitallocker.gov.in or http://digilocker.gov.in.
