MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 55-year-old farmer was washed away in Solani river due to incessant rains near Ramnagar village here, police said.

Heavy monsoon rains pouring in the city since yesterday has swelled the river in the district.

He was washed away in the river yesterday while Gangaram was returning from his fields, police said, adding the body has not yet been recovered and the search is on.

Due to continuous rainfall in parts of Uttarkhand, the district authorities have alerted the flood outposts following discharge of water in Ganga and Yamuna.
