Cops Foil Child Trafficking Bid, Rescue Assam Minor Girl

A minor girl, who was allegedly trafficked alongwith two others was rescued from Haryana, three persons arrested, police said.

RANGIYA: A minor girl, who was allegedly trafficked from here alongwith two others has been rescued from Haryana and three persons were arrested in connection, police said today.

Three girls from Assam's Kamrup (Rural) and Nalbari districts were allegedly lured by two persons, identified as Rahul Ali and Nizam Ali, and were taken to Haryana where the duo sold them to a person for Rs 25,000 each, police said here.

They were arrested last week and during an interrogation Rahul confessed about the crime, they said.

Assam police personnel with the help of Haryana police traced one of the victim at Palam village and rescued her.

The person to whom she was sold was arrested yesterday and was identified as Mahendra Singh.

Singh was remanded to judicial custody today.

The other two girls were yet to be traced and search was on to rescue them, he said.
