PATNA/NEW DELHI/HYDERABAD:The row over Maggi noodles reached a boiling point Tuesday with a court in Bihar ordering FIR against three top actors, while Kerala ordered removal of the product from its outlets.

Meanwhile, samples of the noodles in New Delhi were found “unsafe” for consumption during tests by State government, even as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Haryana ordered random testing of the noodles. The probe into alleged lapses of food safety standards has already been expanded to test Maggi noodle samples from across the country following detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles. A district court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, directed police to register an FIR against actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta for endorsing Maggi noodles. It also asked that the FIR include two Nestle officials. The court directed police to make arrests if required.

In Hyderabad, the Institute of Preventive Medicine is testing samples collected from the 10 districts of Telangana and parts of AP between May 26 and 29. Deputy food controller K Narasimha said results will be announced in a week.
