BJP Criticize Yadav's 'Rape Always Happens with a Mutual Consent' Comment

BJP criticized the SP over Totaram Yadav’s comment that rape always happens with a mutual consent, say such people should be shown the door out of politics.

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday criticized the Samajwadi Party over Uttar Pradesh Minister Totaram Yadav’s shocking comment that rape always happens with a mutual consent, saying such kind of people should be shown the door out of politics.

“It’s absolutely appalling when such kind of statements come from politicians. As far as the Samajwadi Party is concerned, it is a norm in Samajwadi Party to denigrate the dignity of women,” said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

“We have seen as to what kinds of statements were made in the yestermonths by Mulayam Singh Yadav. He had said that ‘rape is rape’ and ‘boys make mistakes’ and today one of his own ministers is saying that rape is something which does not happen on its own. This is something very appalling and such kind of people should not be part of politics. They should be shown the door out of politics,” he added.

Yadav had earlier said that ‘rapes happen with the mutual consent of boys and girls’.

“What is rape? There is nothing as such. Rapes happen with the mutual consent of boys and girls,” he said.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had earlier drawn flak over his remark that most of the rapists are 'boys' and 'boys' are bound to make mistakes.
