KOLKATA: Actor and yesteryear Bollywood hero Mithun Chakraborty, who is currently a TMC Rajya Sabha MP, on Tuesday returned the fee received by him from disgraced Saradha Group probed by the CBI and the ED in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam.
And the thespian’s lawyer on Tuesday reached the ED regional headquarters at the CGO complex here and handed over a demand draft of `1,19,68,508. The balance amount of fees, which had been received by Mithun were paid as income tax. Mithun had entered into a contract for conducting shows for one of theTV channels run by Saradha Group and was to receive a fee of `2 crore.
However, after the channel defaulted in making the payments, he pulled out of the show after a few episodes.
Both the ED and the CBI had interrogated the film star, who submitted his financial statements and details of the payments received by him to the probe agencies.
