PATNA:JD(U) MLA Anant Singh was arrested on Wednesday in a case of kidnapping and extortion at Bihita in the city’s rural outskirts.
Singh, also known as Chhote Sarkar, was arrested in a 2014 case of kidnapping of a builder Raju Singh at Bihta , Senior Superintendent of Police(SSP) Vikash Vaibhav said.
The arrest took place a day after outgoing SSP Jitendra Rana revealed Singh’a involvement in another abduction case, in which four persons were taken captive and one of them -- Phutus Yadav -- was killed on June 17. The incident had snowballed into a major political crisis for CM Nitish Kumar.
Rana, during a media briefing on Tuesday, had disclosed the name of the MLA in the abduction case and presented five persons, who had confessed to their role in the crime.
